Hanmer Springs Ski Area Kicks Season Off with Free Kids Skiing

To celebrate the school holidays Hanmer Springs Ski Area is having a Kids Ski Free weekend this weekend 10th and 11th July.

It’s not every year that Hanmer Springs Ski Area gets enough snow to open in time for the July School Holidays but this year the operators say they're "swimming in it"!

With an average snow base of 80cm and great coverage all over the mountain, conditions for this weekend's free ski event are looking very promising, with forecasts predicting a light dusting of snow on Friday clearing for a fine and sunny weekend.

The Ski Area purchased a new groomer over the summer and it’s already paying off. There are plenty of groomed slopes for the kids and still enough un-groomed slopes to entertain those who need a bit more of a challenge.

Hanmer Springs Ski Area has a staff of six this season and ski hire and Lessons are available on the field as is accommodation in bunk and family rooms. Cooking facilities are available in the Day Hut so bring your own food and stay the night. The kids, big and small,  will love the adventure and getting to be the first on the slopes in the morning! Bookings are recommended for accommodation.
