New Snow Paints a Picture of Fun to Come

Canterbury scenic and adventure flight operator Mt Hutt Helicopters has released some stunning imagery of the Southern Alps following last week's wintry blast.

The company, based at Alford Forest near Methven, offers heli-skiing and heli-boarding in Canterbury's spectacular Taylor Range.

Following the week-long weather pattern that recently battered the South Island with wind, rain and snow, the clouds finally cleared this week to reveal spectacular views of the Taylor Range, in particular 'Armchair Bowl' (see picture).

Armchair Bowl is just one of 50 exhilarating runs on offer in the Taylor Range. The terrain in the Taylor Range caters for those looking for adrenaline pumped skiing and riding in the expanse of the backcountry, it offers some challenging chutes, steep valleys with breathtaking views of the Southern Alps.  Average runs are 700 vertical meters with some offering up to 1000 vertical meters.

Mt Hutt Helicopters offer clients "the ultimate experience of heli-skiing and heli-boarding" with a three-run package for $675 and extra runs available at just $99 .

A spokesperson for Mt Hutt Helicopters says, "Nothing beats the thrill of being flown to the top of a peak to experience fresh, untracked powder!"
