The Mackenzie region is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places to ski in New Zealand, with the majestic Southern Alps and sparking glacial lakes ever present.

As a stopover enroute between Christchurch and Queenstown, or a destination itself, the areas here provide terrain for beginners and intermediates at Roundhill and Mt Dobson, which are primed for family ski adventures, through to some of the most fabulous back country and heli-skiing near Mt Cook.

For a true kiwi ski experience stay at the Lake Ohau lodge, ski during the day, then collapse into the spa pool (or bar) at night. Ohau is famous for its exceptional snowboarding facilities and terrain. [More Mackenzie skiing information]
